AWE + HAITI

Haiti has been a major factor in the AWE success story from our inception. There is no other country like Haiti in the western hemisphere. It is unique in its language and culture which transcends into their handicrafts. Haiti is what makes us look unique, hand-made, and one-of-a-kind. You can always expect the unexpected with Haitian products. Haiti was recycling before recycling was cool… It was born out of necessity for lack of raw materials in a poverty stricken country. Oil drums are used to hammer out works of art, seagrass is used to weave a seat in a chair or a rug, beer bottles are roughly cut in half to make candles and bamboo can be fashioned into the grooviest wireless (and sustainable) speaker for your smart-phone. The earthquake was devastating, but as soon as we could, we were back in Haiti creating those products we had become famous for.
